The greater part of this bog was allotted by the late Congested Districts Board many years ago. Since 1955 the Land Commission have provided 11 additional rights of turbary on the bog. At present, proposals are being formulated for development and disposal of the small area of turbary still on hands in Carrowbeg in conjunction with an adjacent bog at Garryredmond and I am hopeful that allotment will be feasible before next turf-cutting season commences. Meanwhile, seasonal turbary lettings have been arranged at Garryredmond.
