Vol. 182 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Mayo Forestry Workers.

32.

asked the Minister for Lands the total wages paid to workers in each forest in County Mayo since its establishment.

Information on labour expenditure in the form sought by the Deputy is not readily available and it would involve a disproportionate amount of work to extract it specially.

I trust it will suffice for the Deputy's purposes if I give him particulars of total wages paid to forestry workers in Co. Mayo for each year from 1950/51 to 1959/60 (inclusive). This information is given in a tabular statement which I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

WAGES paid to State Forestry workers in County Mayo.

Surely the accounts for each particular forest are kept in the same way as they used to be or has that been changed? Accounts used to be kept separately.

Without going to unjustifiable trouble I could not get the particulars in the form in which the Deputy asked for them but I am providing him with the total amount of wages paid each year which should be sufficient for his purposes.
