asked the Minister for Transport and Power what is the position concerning the extension of rural electrification to the townland of Cuilaghurrail, Castlehill, Ballina, County Mayo.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the townland of Cuilaghurrail is in the Lahardane Rural Area which was developed by the Board under the Rural Electrification Scheme in 1956. At the time of the development of this area the number of acceptances of supply by householders in the townland of Cuilaghurrail was not sufficient to enable the Board to provide supply except on very onerous terms and, in the course of a post-development construction programme which was completed in December, 1959, the position remained unchanged.
