Vol. 183 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Jumping Team.

8.

asked the Minister for Defence whether it is proposed to organise an Irish jumping team to be composed of civilian as well as army personnel to take part in the Royal Dublin Society's Horse Show.

The answer to the Deputy's question is in the negative.

Would the Minister say if there are to be two Irish teams?

The Department of Defence does not regard it as any part of their function to organise such a team.

Is the Department of Defence prepared to have civilians in the Army Jumping Team?

They are concerned only with Army personnel.

Could the Minister say whether, on consideration of the matter, they would be prepared to have civilian representatives on the team?

I could not answer that question.
