Vol. 183 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Vesting Order.

11.

asked the Minister for Lands what is the significance of the note "Budget Estimate No. 161/23" in the Vesting Order published by the Land Commission on page 727 of Iris Oifigiúil of the 8th July, 1960; what is the full amount of such estimate and what are the exact purposes for which it will be used.

In connection with land settlement, the term "Budget Estimate" originated with the former Congested Districts Board. It was the name of the official form on which the financial provisions were approved for proposed schemes for resale of congested estates.

For many years, the term has been similarly used in the Land Commission in relation to proposed schemes for rearrangement of holdings in intermixed plots.

The expenditure approved on Budget Estimate No. 161/23 totalled £810 for fencing, road-work, drainage and out-offices.

I did not hear the Minister at one stage. Under which subhead does it come?

Under subhead I— Improvement of Estates. There is a separate estimate for each of these jobs.
