Vol. 183 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Overcrowding in County Cork School.

16.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that serious overcrowding exists in a condemned schoolhouse at Clogagh, Timoleague, County Cork; if so, if his Department have sanctioned a grant for the building of a new school; and when building operations are likely to commence.

I am aware that the accommodation in the present school at Clogagh is not adequate. My Department has sanctioned a grant towards the cost of erecting a new school. The arrangements for the erection of the new building are in the hands of the Commissioners of Public Works who have now invited tenders with a view to placing a contract.

Therefore, building operations are likely to commence within two or three months.
