Vol. 184 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arterial Drainage Programme.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is hoped to have the arterial drainage programme fully completed.

It is difficult to be prophetic on this. An organisation has been built up and the progress now being made is somewhat better than was anticipated. A good deal of work remains to be done, but I should hope that most of the arterial drainage problems will have been met in 15-20 years from now.

Twenty years is a long time for my constituency to wait.

We are well in advance.

Is that reply in keeping with your 100,000 job promise?

I am waiting for interruptions to cease.

Deputy Blowick did not get much done about it.

I started it anyway, when you were afraid to start it in 1948.

We did. You got cold feet over it.

All the Deputy did was blow a whistle.

Deputy Blowick is including postscripts to every question asked and I ask him to cease.

Perhaps the Chair will keep the Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach off his postscripts too.
