Vol. 185 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Galway Forestry Lands.

55.

asked the Minister for Lands what progress has been made in regard to the acquisition of lands for State afforestation purposes in the Kilchreest, Roxboro-Castledaly and Peterswell districts, South Galway.

In the areas in question my Department has agreed to purchase 4 areas totalling 30 acres and title is being cleared. Negotiations are in progress to purchase 4 other areas totalling 485 acres and there are a number of other cases at the preliminary stages of investigation.

In the past 18 months 981 acres have been acquired for forestry in these areas.
