Vol. 185 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fianna Éireann: Military Service Pensions.

23.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of military service pensions granted for service in Fianna Éireann only under the 1924 and 1934 Military Service Pensions Acts, respectively.

A person could not qualify for a military service pension under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924, solely by means of service in Fianna Éireann. Such cases are governed by the Act of 1934.

As the pension payments records readily available do not disclose the organisations in which pensionable service was rendered, an examination of all the relevant files, amounting to 13,933 in number, would be necessary in order to ascertain the information asked for by the Deputy. In the circumstances, I do not consider that the time and expense involved in this would be justified.
