asked the Minister for Justice the number of inter-departmental committees appointed by him which are at present functioning, the respective dates of their appointment and the subject matter for consideration by each committee where this is not apparent from its title.

There are functioning at present two inter-departmental committees appointed by me. They are:

(1) An Inter-Departmental Committee on Malicious Injuries which was appointed on the 25th April, 1960 to consider whether the enactments which provide for the payment of compensation for malicious injuries, whether to person or to property, should be amended or repealed and to make recommendations.

(2) An Inter-Departmental Committee on Ground Rents which was appointed on the 19th January, 1961 to have an examination made of the question of the preparation of legislation to provide that ground rents will not be created in future and to make recommendations.
