Vol. 186 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Question. Oral Answers. - North Kerry Reactor Cows: Headage Grant.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that a number of farmers in the North Kerry area have sold reactor cows under the bovine tuberculosis eradication scheme within the past five months, and that they have not yet received the £15 headage grant; and, if so, if he will have this matter investigated with a view to having the payments expedited.

Before headage grant can be paid in accordance with the special arrangements under the B.T.E. Scheme in the southern counties, documentary proof must be submitted that the reactor cows have been received at a licensed cannery. This evidence has not been forthcoming in the case of a number of claims received from County Kerry as well as from other southern counties. All documented claims received from County Kerry up to 12th February have been paid.
