Vol. 187 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electoral (Amendment) Act: High Court Judgment.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will procure and circulate to members copies of the High Court judgment on the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 1959, so that members may be in a position to consider the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1961, in the light of the interpretation by the High Court of the Constitution and its relevant provisions.

While I agree that it is desirable that Deputies should be aware of the contents of the High Court Judgment when considering the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1961, I think that their requirements can be appropriately met by placing twelve copies of the judgment in the Oireachtas Library. If this number is found to be insufficient, I shall see about making a further issue of copies to the Library.
