Vol. 189 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensions of C.I.E. Employees.

11.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if Córas Iompair Éireann have submitted proposals to him for an increase in pensions for retired employees; and, if so, if he will convey to the Board his approval to such expenditure, having regard to the increase in the cost of living.

The answer to the first part of the Question is in the negative; the second part does not therefore arise.

Surely the Minister is aware that there are many C.I.E. pensioners who received no increase in their pensions for some years past. Further, the Minister must be aware that the cost of living has increased for these people——

The Deputy is asking about a matter which is entirely different from that on the Order Paper.
