asked the Minister for Lands how many boats owned partly or wholly by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at (a) Balbriggan, (b) Skerries, (c) Loughshinney, (d) Rush and (e) Howth are being operated by the fishermen, and the number of boats which have ceased to operate or been repossessed by the Bord during the past four years.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Operation of Fishing Boats.
As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to include it with the Official Report.
Following is the statement:—
Port |
Number of boats on hire-purchase from An Bord. Iascaigh Mhara and at present in operation |
Number of boats repossessed by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara during the past four years |
Balbriggan |
5 |
— |
Skerries and Loughshinney |
6 |
3 |
Rush |
1 |
— |
Howth |
8 |
— |
The only boats owned partly or wholly by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at these ports have been issued on hire purchase terms. None of these boats, other than those repossessed, ceased to operate during the period in question.
As boats operated by skippers from Loughshinney are normally based on Skerries, the particulars relating to these two ports have been combined in the statement.
