Vol. 189 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valuation of County Cork Holding.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the reports of the inspectors of the Valuation Office who recently inspected the helding of Mr. Timothy Motherway, Lot 8, Garrymore, E.D. Ightermurragh, Killeagh, County Cork, and the report of Griffith's Surveyors who inspected the holding in 1847, he will now have the valuation of £41 15s. on the land, which is 46 acres, 3 roods, 28 perches, reduced.

I have no function in regard to making valuations. The Valuation Acts provide that the appropriate rating authority may require the Commissioner of Valuation to have the valuation of any given property revised; such revision is carried out by one of the valuers on the Valuation Office staff. If dissatisfied with the revised valuation, the owner or occupier of the hereditament in question has the right of appeal to the Commissioner, and if dissatisfied with the Commissioner's decision, he has the further right of appeal to the Circuit Court.
