Vol. 189 No. 7

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Offences.

48.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of drivers convicted of road traffic offences in each of the years 1950-1959, in such a way as to show the number of offences committed in each year (a) by private motorists, (b) by drivers of commercial vehicles, and (c) by drivers of public transport services.

No figures on these lines are compiled and it would not be possible at this stage without the expenditure of an inordinate amount of time and labour to compile them. I would, however, refer the Deputy to the Return of road accidents compiled annually by the Garda Síochána, copies of which are laid on the Table of the House. That Return includes a table showing the number of vehicles of different types that have been involved in accidents.
