Vol. 189 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Vacancies.

18.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of vacancies in his Department in the following grades: superintendent, assistant superintendent, overseer, supervisor, assistant supervisor, assistant inspector, post office clerk, A and B, and postal sorter.

There are two vacancies in the Assistant Superintendent grade, 20 in the Post Office Clerk A grade, 38 in the Post Office Clerk B grade and 8 in the Postal Sorter grade. There are no vacancies in the other grades mentioned by the Deputy.

Can the Minister indicate when it is likely that these vacancies will be filled?

As soon as possible. It will not be very long, I think.

Does that apply to all of them?

It would apply to all of them. Some of them are held up by the revision of duties and others are awaiting the result of Irish promotion tests.

And they will be filled?

They will be filled then subject to the outcome of the revisions.
