Vol. 189 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballina School Dispute.

29.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Education if in view of the deteriorating situation in the Ballina school dispute and of the grave consequences to parents, teachers and children in the county should no satisfactory solution be forthcoming, he is prepared to intervene in the dispute in order to help bring about a satisfactory settlement in the matter without delay.

I am satisfied that having regard to our system of national education and to the matter at issue in this dispute it is not open to me to intervene. Furthermore, any effort at intervention on my part could lead only to misunderstanding and misrepresentation.
