Vol. 189 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniscorthy Garda Station.

24.

asked the Minister for Justice when it is proposed to commence work on the building of a new Garda station in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, as the condition of the present station is quite inadequate for such an important centre.

In reply to a Question on this matter on 23rd March, I stated that a site for a new station at this centre which appeared to meet requirements had been located. The site has since been examined and approved and the Commissioners of Public Works have been authorised to enter into negotiations for its purchase.

Can the Minister give any indication as to when the barracks is likely to be started? As he no doubt appreciates, this has been going on for a considerable period.

I cannot say. Negotiations and investigations in this respect are being carried out.
