Vol. 189 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Congo Gratuity.

46.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that because of delay in forwarding the gratuity payable to the mother of one of the Irish soldiers killed in the Congo she died before she received it; and if he will take steps to see that it is payable forthwith to her next-of-kin.

There were certain legal considerations in the case referred to by the Deputy. These have now been resolved and payment will be made as soon as the grant of administration of the estate of the deceased person is notified to my Department.
