Vol. 191 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fire Escapes in Nursing Homes.

16.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he will take steps to ensure that adequate fire escapes are provided in all nursing homes, particularly in view of the increasing number of such homes in three and four storey Georgian houses in Dublin.

Local fire brigade authorities are empowered to ensure that nursing homes are provided with adequate means of escape in case of fire. They also have power to specify the type of escape to be provided, subject to appeal to the District Court.
