The figures shown above represent the total estimated revenue expenditure by health authorities after deduction of ordinary revenue income (e.g., income from patients in respect of maintenance in institutions). This expenditure, one-half of which is borne by the Exchequer, is exclusive of any capital items or loan charges.
"Institutional services" includes General Hospitals, Maternity Hospitals, Tuberculosis Hospitals, other Special Hospitals (excluding Mental Hospitals) and Hospitals and Homes for Chronic Sick, Deaf and Dumb, etc.
"Mental Health Services" includes Mental Hospitals and Homes for Mental Defectives.
