NOTE 1:The Grants in respect of Main Road Upkeep represent 40% recoupment of approved expenditure by the County Council on Main Road Upkeep. The figure for 1961-62 is an estimate based on the 1960-61 allocation.
NOTE 2: In the financial year 1956-57, £35,250 of the Main Road Improvement Grant was transferred to county roads in accordance with general conditions laid down by the Department.
NOTE 3:The grants in respect of tourist roads are in accordance with an eight year programme initiated in 1953-54 for Gaeltacht and congested areas, and continued for the financial year 1961-62.
NOTE 4:Grants under the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote are made by the Special Employment Schemes Office each year for suitable road or amenity schemes. Proposals under the 1961-62 grants have not yet been submitted. The grants are subject to a local contribution by the Council of about 25% of the cost of the works.
NOTE 5:The grant shown for Bridges, etc., was in respect of Ballylaghan Bridge.
