Vol. 192 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foxford Sewerage Scheme.

52.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in accepting a tender for the Foxford sewerage scheme.

53.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is yet in a position to sanction the Foxford Sewerage Scheme contract.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 52 and 53 together.

I am informed by Mayo County Council that it was necessary to re-advertise for tenders for this scheme following the withdrawal of the contractor who submitted the lowest tender earlier this year and that the further tenders are at present being examined by the Council's consultant engineer. My sanction to the acceptance of a tender for the scheme has not yet been sought.
