Written Answers. - Hours and Wages of Dublin County Council and Corporation Workers.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) the normal hours of work and basic rates of wages now payable to road workers employed by the Dublin County Council, (2) the normal hours of work and rates of wages payable to (a) bin-men and (b) sewerage workers employed by the Dublin County Council, and (3) the corresponding rates of wages and hours of work applicable to similar grades of workmen employed by the Dublin Corporation.

The current rate of wages of Dublin County Council roadworkers is 159/6 per week. The County Council state that roadworkers normally work 45 hours weekly and that bin-men and sewerage workers have a 42½ hour week and that their current rates of wages are 184/6 and 173/6 per week respectively. The Dublin Corporation state that the wage scale of roadworkers, bin-men and sewerage workers is 195/6 by 1/6 (every 2 years) to 203/- per week and that the normal hours of work are 42½ hours per week for roadworkers and sewerage workers and 44 hours per week for bin-men.
