asked the Minister for Lands if he will give details of employment, wages and bonus earnings of forestry workers in the form of a reply of 8th March, 1961; and if he will state the basic wage payable to forestry workers in each year from 1956 to date.

BASIC WAGE RATES.

Prior to the introduction of the incentive bonus scheme, the wage rates paid to forestry workers were the same as the rates payable to Co. Council road workers in the various counties. With effect from the first pay week in January, 1958, a new basic wage structure for forestry workers was introduced. Two increases in basic rate have since been granted. Details are as follows:—

(a) Basic rates from 4th January, 1958 to 2nd January, 1960.
