asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in erecting a national school for the Sisters of Charity, Morton Street, Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if in view of the grave necessity for the erection of this new school he will take the necessary steps to have it expedited.

The erection of this school is being undertaken by the Manager. I understand that works are now in progress.

29.

asked the Minister for Finance the cause of the delay in reconstructing and carrying out certain essential repairs to the Powerstown/Clonmel national school; and if in view of the fact that fifteen pupils had to be refused admission because of overcrowding he will take immediate steps to have provision made for the building of additional rooms to meet the needs of the people of the locality.

This is one of a large number of schools in which the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to advise about the feasibility of improvement works. It was reached in order of priority, and the Commissioners have recently made a recommendation to the Department of Education.
