I assume that the mineral survey in West Cavan referred to by the Deputy is the Technical Assistance drilling project which is being carried out in the Connaught Coalfield, part of which extends into West Cavan.
Under this project one borehole has been drilled in West Cavan and a second one will shortly be drilled on the Cavan/Leitrim border.
The results cannot be properly appraised until the completion of the drilling programme as a whole. It is expected that these results will be available at the Geological Survey for inspection by the public about the end of next year.
