asked the Minister for Local Government the average cost per house to date of installing a piped water supply by means of (a) regional schemes and (b) grant schemes.

In the case of regional water supply schemes installed to date the overall average capital cost on the basis of the number of households in the areas served by the schemes is £165 approximately. The estimated average cost per house of private grant aided group water supply installations is £155 approximately.
