Vol. 193 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Traffic Lane Arrows.

129.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of what junctions in the City of Dublin the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána made a statutory request to Dublin Corporation for the provision of traffic lane direction arrows.

Traffic lane direction arrows are not authorised signs, but the Corporation have agreed to provide them, at the request of the Garda Síochána, at a few junctions on an experimental basis. If their use proves to be satisfactory in practice it is the intention of the Garda Síochána to ask the Minister for Local Government to make a Statutory Regulation recognising them as authorised signs and, subject to that regulation being made, to arrange for a more extensive use of them at approaches to important junctions.
