asked the Minister for Education (1) the number of scholarships for the year 1960/61 provided for successful students by the Kildare County Council (a) to secondary and vocational schools and (b) to University Colleges; and (2) the number of scholarships that will be provided for successful students for categories (a) and (b) for the year 1961/62 because of the increased grants from his Department.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare County Council Scholarships.
101.
Owing to the fact that the Kildare County Council scholarships to secondary and vocational schools will for the future be awarded by reference to a total annual sum and to scholarships carrying different values, it will not be possible, until the awards have been made, to state how many scholarships will be awarded. I can tell the Deputy, however, that in 1961 the total amount allocated by the county council for new scholarships was £885 and that this year £2,000 is being allocated.
As regards University scholarships, four scholarships value £250 each will be awarded this year as against three scholarships value £175 last year.
