asked the Minister for Transport and Power why the 39-hour week now conceded to certain salaried grades in C.I.E. is not also conceded to wages grades who are still on a 48-hour week.

Under the provisions of Section 55 of the Railways Act, 1924, and of Section 10 of the Railways Act, 1933, the hours of duty and other conditions of service of rail and road transport employees of Córas Iompair Éireann are required to be regulated in accordance with agreements made between the Trade Unions representative of the employees and the Board.
