Vol. 193 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Reorganisation in Waterford.

81.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the reorganisation policy of his Department as applied to the Waterford area created redundancy or reduced the employment of any number of permanent or temporary employees of the Department in the area.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the reorganisation of postal services in the Waterford Head Office District. During the past 6 years the number of part-time postmen has been increased from 57 to 58 while the number of established postmen has been reduced from 81 to 77. The suppressed established posts were vacant and no redundancy arose.
