Vol. 193 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Companies' Boards of Directors.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance the names of the members of the board of directors of (1) the Irish Life Assurance Company Limited and (2) Irish Estates Limited.

The following are the names of the directors of the Irish Life Assurance Company Limited:—

Mr. E. O'Brien, Chairman; Mr. A. W. Bayne, Managing Director; Mr. T. Clarke; Mr. P. Harrington; Mr. G.P. S. Hogan; Mr. P. Lenihan; Mr. M. McDunphy; Mr. M. Smyth.

Irish Estates Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Irish Life Assurance Company and its directors are appointed by the parent company. I understand that the directors are the same as those of the parent company.

Is it not a fact that the men the Minister referred to as being members of the Board of the Irish Life Assurance Ltd. are the very men who are the Board of Directors of the other companies?

This is a factual question with regard to the names of the directors of certain companies and that is all.
