Vol. 193 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Common Market: Irish Cattle Exports.

37.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether his attention has been drawn to a statement by Mr. Seán Healy, General Secretary of the National Farmers' Association, on 27th February that, since Europe was near to over-production in livestock and livestock products, the prospects of finding an outlet for Irish cattle in the Common Market were very doubtful; whether his Department have made any survey of the prospects for the Irish cattle export trade within the Common Market; and, if so, what were the results of such a survey.

So far as I can see from press reports, the Deputy does not appear to have accurately quoted the statement in question.

There is nothing I can usefully add at this stage to my replies to questions asked by Deputy Dr. Browne on 28th February and by Deputy Donegan on 1st March.
