Vol. 193 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salmon Traps.

54.

asked the Minister for Lands the approximate amount of compensation required to be paid for each salmon trap at present in operation if it is put out of commission by agreement or otherwise.

As the Deputy was informed by letter over a month ago, the amount of compensation appropriate in the event of abolition of any of the salmon traps would be impossible to measure without information as to the relevant circumstances. Detailed information about income and outgoings is not available to my Department.

Is it a fact that the Department some years ago made a decision on this matter and that the information which I have sought should be easily obtainable as a result of that decision?

No decision was made. The question is entirely hypothetical.

I am afraid the Parliamentary Secretary will have to take another look in his file. There are some dusty ones he has not looked through yet.
