Vol. 193 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Copper Mines.

30.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will arrange to have a re-survey of the old copper mines in the Glenamoy and Belderrig areas of County Mayo carried out to ascertain if they can be developed.

The Glenamoy and Belderrig districts in County Mayo have already been surveyed, and the information obtained is available for inspection by any interested person at the office of the Geological Survey. I am advised that the likelihood of discovering workable deposits of copper in these areas is not such as to justify the expenditure of public moneys on a further survey.
