asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that builders in the Dublin area are extremely reluctant to undertake repair work covered by repair and reconstruction grants owing to the long delays between the local authority and his Department in getting grants sanctioned, work inspected, etc.; and whether he will take immediate steps to have the procedure in sanctioning these grants, etc., speeded up.

I am not aware that the position in the Dublin area is as stated by the Deputy. Due to difficulties in relation to recruitment of staff, delays have been occasioned in dealing with repair and reconstruction grants but these difficulties have now been resolved. The present position in the Dublin area appears to be generally satisfactory.
