asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that no up-to-date index to statutory rules and orders is yet available; when such an index will be published; if he is aware of the immense difficulty thereby created for legal practitioners and citizens generally in making themselves aware of the provisions of such statutory rules and orders; and if, having regard to such difficulty, he will undertake to have the index published without delay.

I am aware that an index to the Statutory Instruments made in the period 1948 to date is not yet available. However, each annual volume of Statutory Instruments contains an index to the Instruments included in that Volume.
The work of preparing an Index covering the years 1948/60 inclusive has progressed to the stage that tenders for the printing have been received. I am informed that, in accordance with the time limits set out in the conditions of tender, the index should be published next August.
