Vol. 194 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Road Crossing: Assignment of Traffic Warden.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that there is a grave danger of injury to children attending the Saint Bernadette School, Clogher Road, Dublin, by reason of the fact that there is no traffic warden assigned to the crossing at Sundrive Road and Clogher Road; and if he will take steps to ensure that the service of a warden is provided at the crossing without delay.

Arrangements for the patrolling by traffic wardens of places where school children cross public roads is a matter for the local authority concerned, acting with the consent of the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána. The employment of a warden at the location referred to by the Deputy is a matter for the Dublin Corporation in the first instance and I have no function in relation thereto.
