asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount collected under Schedule E Income Tax for the four years ended 31st March, 1962, including separately the amount collected under P.A.Y.E. in the last year and, in any year in which exact figures are not available, giving rough approximations.
Written Answers. - Schedule E Income Tax Collection.
79.
It is estimated that the amounts of Income Tax under Schedule E collected in the four years in question were approximately as follows:
1958-59 |
£7.4 million |
1959-60 |
£7.6 million |
1960-61 |
£9.8 million |
1961-62 |
£11.7 million |
It must be stressed that those are of necessity only approximate figures as, under the system of accounting for Income Tax, the net receipt for any year is not segregated under the various Schedules. From the 6th October, 1960, however, the amount of tax collected under P.A.Y.E. has been separately accounted for. The figure of £11.7 million for 1961-62 includes a sum of about £9 million collected under P.A.Y.E.
