Vol. 194 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Finglas (Dublin) School Accommodation.

43.

asked the Minister for Education whether in view of the present acute shortage of school accommodation in Finglas and Finglas West, Dublin and in view of the fact that some considerable time is likely to elapse before sufficient school accommodation will be provided in these areas he will consider making the necessary arrangements with regard to the provision of transport, etc., for children from the Finglas and Finglas West areas to attend the Christ the King national schools in Cabra, where there are at present large numbers of vacancies for boys and girls in both the infant and senior departments.

Suitable arrangements have been in operation since 1952 for the transport of children from the Finglas area to certain national schools in the city, pending the provision of adequate school accommodation in their own district. The necessity for establishing a new school transport service from this district to Christ the King National Schools, Cabra, does not arise.
