Vol. 194 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Water Schemes.

36.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received seven proposals for the provision of water schemes in various areas in County Kildare; and, if so, the dates on which the proposals were received; and when the schemes will be approved.

Preliminary reports on proposals for extensions to water supply schemes to serve seven areas in County Kildare were received on 20th February 1962 and my Department's observations on them will be conveyed to the county council at an early date. Detailed schemes in relation to these proposals have not yet been prepared by the county council.

Is it not a fact that the Minister laid down that the preliminary reports must be procured before detailed particulars can be submitted?

I do not think that arises.

Can the Minister say when he hopes to communicate with the county council in respect of this work?

As I said, schemes to serve seven areas were submitted together on 20th February. They are under consideration at the moment and we hope to communicate with the council at an early date.

Could the Minister hazard a guess as to what would be an early date?

I do not think any Minister ever did.

Will there be much more delay?

The Deputy may rest assured that there will be no avoidable delay on the part of the Department.
