Vol. 194 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clerical Employees of Health Authorities.

1.

asked the Minister for Health whether, in the absence of arbitration and conciliation machinery in respect of clerical employees in the service of health authorities, he will arrange to have any disputes regarding pay and/or working conditions which may arise between these parties referred to the Labour Court.

The possibility of formulating conciliation and arbitration machinery for application to the clerical staffs of health and other local authorities is at present under consideration. Until the examination of this complex matter, which will necessarily take time to complete, has concluded, I consider that it would be wiser to defer any action designed to extend access to the Labour Court to the staffs to whom the Deputy refers.

Has the Minister any idea as to when this examination will conclude?

As it began only comparatively recently, it will take some time.
