Vol. 195 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loughshinny (Dublin) Toilet Facilities.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the urgent need for toilet facilities at Loughshinny Harbour, County Dublin in view of the fact that the beach has become increasingly popular with large numbers of holiday-makers, tourists and week-end trippers within recent years; and if he will take appropriate steps in this matter.

I understand that the Dublin County Council will be unable to provide the facilities in question until piped water and sewerage systems are installed in the village.

Would the Minister consider making further recommendations to the county council that they should make use of the sea water to provide these very necessary facilities?

I suggest if there is any substance in the usefulness of the Deputy's suggestion that he would get farther, and quicker, by addressing the matter to the county council because it is they who must initiate. I have no power of initiation in the matter, as the Deputy is well aware.
