asked the Minister for Social Welfare how the rates of pay for male and female cleaners employed in his Department in Dublin compare with the rates of pay for cleaners employed by the Department in Cork and Limerick.

The scale of pay for-full-time male cleaners in my Department in Dublin is 156/9d. by 7/1d. to 178/- per week and for part-time male cleaners, who are paid on an hourly basis, the rate is 3½d. per hour for the first five years service and 3/5d. per hour thereafter. Full-time female cleaners in Dublin are paid a fixed rate of 91/7d. per week and part-time female cleaners are paid at the rate of 2/5½d. per hour.

There are no full-time cleaners employed by my Department at Cork or Limerick. The rates of pay for part-time cleaners employed by my Department in those cities are 3/1½d. per hour for the first five years and 3/5d. per hour thereafter in the case of males and 2/3½d. per hour in the case of females.
