A commonage containing 533 acres at Cregganbeg was recently inspected by my Department and negotiations for its purchase will open shortly.
Most of the land in the Belderrig area is subject to severe exposure and contains large areas which are unplantable by our present standards. Progress with acquisition in the district must remain largely dependent on the outcome of experiments being conducted on similar type land at Glenamoy and other western forests.
