My Department would be glad to consider acquiring any suitable areas of cutaway bog in the Portarlington district that may be offered for State forestry purposes but, as far as my Department is aware, there are no extensive areas of cutaway bog, either in private ownership or in the hands of Bord na Móna, available for afforestation purposes in the district at present.
