Vol. 196 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tullamore (Offaly) Estate.

69.

asked the Minister for Lands what is the position in so far as the Land Commission are concerned in regard to the Walsh Estate, Tinnycross, Tullamore, County Offaly; and if in view of the large number of local deserving applicants who are all small holders, some of whom take conacre, the Land Commission will examine the matter further with a view to early acquisition so that the lands may be divided by the end of this year.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his previous Question of 12th April, last regarding this estate. I understand that the position arising out of a recent change of ownership of the property is at present under investigation by the Land Commission.

No decision has been taken?

No decision has so far been taken. As the Deputy knows, the previous owner died. There has been a new purchase and the matter is still under investigation.
