Vol. 196 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Education Commission.

87.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Education if he will consider setting up a broadly based educational commission, including agricultural and commercial interests, to report within a reasonable and specified period on education generally (primary, secondary, vocational and university), including its administration, financing and general orientation.

I have already announced in the House that the formulation of future plans in relation to post-primary education is already well in train. A Commission on Higher Education is already sitting.

In the circumstances, I do not feel that the setting up of a further Commission is called for.
